14/06/07 - Cheaper
Property Now Available in Spain |
Britons looking to
invest in foreign property could find that now is a good time to
negotiate for cheaper prices, according to one expert...
Thanks to some unfavourable press reports surrounding a property crash in
Spain - which some experts deny - opportunities to acquire a property for
appealing prices could present themselves, said Miranda John, manager of
broker Savills Private Finance International.
She told the Independent that compared to five years ago, some investors are
starting to look further afield because of the expense of Spanish property -
meaning that there could be more leverage for investors to seek a better
price.
"If you buy prudently, now is a good time to negotiate an attractive deal in
Spain," commented Ms John.
A recent survey from Banco Halifax Hispania found that nearly two-thirds of
Britons living in Spain are under 55 - perhaps contradicting notions that
Spain is largely a retirement hotspot for property buyers.
Additionally, the thought of living in Spain seems more attractive to women
than it does men, the survey also found.
